Description du poste

Recruiting: Librarian & Events Assistant — Booklore

Napa Hospitality Group is a Marrakech-based holding company for various businesses that include Farmers, a farm-to-table restaurant, Blue Ribbon, a bakery and restaurant, Napa, a cocktail bar, Booklore, a bookstore and cultural center, and Sanctuary Slimane, a permaculture farm and art residency.

Booklore is a curated bookstore and cultural space in the heart of Marrakech, hosting talks, signings, readings, and workshops alongside its day-to-day life as a bookshop. We are looking for a Bookstore & Events Assistant to support the Store Manager with the daily running of the shop and the hands-on organisation of our cultural events. This is a junior, hands-on role — ideal for someone who genuinely loves books and wants to learn the trade from the ground up.

Recruiting: Bookstore & Events Assistant

Key Responsibilities

Daily Store Operations – Open and close the store; welcome customers and offer genuine, well-informed book recommendations – Operate the till/POS and handle day-to-day sales transactions and cash handling – Keep the shop floor, tables, and shelves tidy, well-presented, and inviting – Receive deliveries, unpack and shelve new stock, and flag any issues to the Manager

Stock Support: Carry out regular shelf and stockroom checks; flag low stock, damages, or discrepancies – Help keep stock counts accurate and assist with periodic inventory checks – Sort, tag, and organise books according to Booklore's categorisation system

Event Support Help set up and break down events: seating, signage, book displays, lighting – Manage guest lists and RSVPs, and welcome guests/authors on the day – Support simple event communications (invites, social posts) as briefed by the Manager – Be present during events to host, run the book sales table, and tidy up afterward

Customer & Community Engagement – Build friendly relationships with regular customers and Booklore's literary community – Stay genuinely curious about new releases and titles to give informed recommendations – Pass on customer feedback, requests, and ideas to the Manager

Administrative Support – Keep basic daily logs (sales, footfall, event attendance). Help with light admin tasks (filing, simple correspondence) as needed

Candidate Profile

– A real, demonstrable interest in literature and reading — across genres. Reliable, punctual, and comfortable with hands-on, day-to-day tasks – Organised and detail-oriented; follows instructions and processes consistently – Warm, approachable, customer-facing manner – Takes direction well and communicates proactively — this role works closely with and reports directly to the Manager – Eager to learn; prior bookstore or retail experience is a plus but not required

Languages

– English: fluent (written and spoken) — required – Arabic: professional level — required – French: working proficiency — an asset

What We Offer

– A genuine entry point into the literary and cultural world of Marrakech – A friendly, creative day-to-day environment at the heart of a growing hospitality and culture group – Opportunity to grow into more responsibility as Booklore expands
