Job Summary

We are looking for a responsible Quality Control Inspector based in Fez, Morocco to verify handmade tile at various stages of production and manage suppliers to meet ongoing continuous improvement targets related to quality, lead time and overall performance metrics.

The Quality Control Inspector will travel to various factories and perform visual and dimensional inspections of handmade tile in-process and final inspections of all orders prior to shipping. Finished goods will be inspected to ensure compliance with pre-determined specifications. The inspector will be required to report inspection accept / reject information directly to Zia Tile. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in a similar role and will have familiarity with handmade tile.

Hourly pay rate will be commensurate with experience. Hours will be approximately 30-40 hours per week depending on business needs. Candidate must have a mobile phone and a laptop computer with a current operating system for use while working. You must be comfortable working as an independent contractor. Relocation is not available.

Job Description

The primary responsibilities of the Quality Control Inspector are to inspect and document work in process and finished goods in detail and verify finish, color, quality and dimensions are all within acceptable tolerance. Additional responsibilities include inspecting shipping materials for compliance with specifications and verifying packaging and shipping materials and processes are optimized to assure accuracy and mitigate potential for damages.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor production processing via random factory audits
  • Assist with problem solving, root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate documentation of quality inspection results
  • Audit and maintenance of compliance to required standards
  • Provide detailed quality reports as required – daily, weekly, monthly, etc.
  • Other duties as required

Requirements

  • Fluent in English, Arabic and French
  • Ability to travel to multiple factories between Fez, Marrakesh & Casablanca
  • Flexibility to communicate with US counterparts from 8 am to Noon M-F, Pacific Time
  • Proficient with software including the Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel)
  • Ability to listen well and to communicate simply and effectively

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of quality control experience
  • 2+ years of supplier continuous improvement experience
  • Familiarity or expertise with handmade Moroccan tile
